Art vs Money

When we mention art, what are the things that cross in your mind? Yes, there are a lot of examples that is referring to the art such that painting, sculpture, literature, theatre and others. Creative artists in the pass were very good in creating the best drawing until all their works could be label as the ‘Work of Art’. They had displayed certain qualities that were unique. It is sad that their achievement was not smoothly followed by young artists today and it is true when people said that there has been a decline in the quality of prize-winning artwork.

The first thing to note is, how the quite ordinary pieces of art can be label ‘masterpieces’ whilst true works of art pass unnoticed? I think that it is reasonable to say that people in the past century are more creative and they tend to draw, write or imaging something clearly. They expressed their full feeling on their painting or poem and dedicated to the person who was very meaningful in their life. They did not care about the money or the payment, but they felt satisfied when people around them appreciated their hard works. William Shakespears is the famous poetry, who had made a lot of poem and story based on what he had experienced before. He was honest in delivering his art works.

Besides that, artists in the past century liked to travel around the world. They still want to learn and gain knowledge. When they stay in some beautiful country or they loved someone, they preferred to immortalize what they had seen on their painting. Nowadays, artists like to do draw something that we as the normal person can not even catch what they want to express. May be, their way of thinking is different from us, but it showed that they are not successfully doing their job because we can not understand what they want to say. If we look to the portrait of Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci, it seem to be a simple art work, but that simple one is the cheapest portrait in the world.

However, the art works today are not recognizing by their quality, but depend on who has drawn or create the works. Somebody who has money and ‘power’ can easily make a gallery and exhibition around the world. Even though their art works are quite ordinary, their pieces of art tend to achieve the label of ‘masterpieces’. Usually, a daughter or a son of the richest person likes to open the art gallery using the ‘big’ name of their father. So, we can not find the real artists. May be, they do not have money and opportunity to expose themselves. In addition, artists nowadays tend to work for the money and not truly express their feeling.

As the conclusion, it is better for us to look back in the past and try to imitate what the artists have done until they could make a great art works. Do not be shy to learn something and follow our heart. In order to make a good art works, be sincere in what you want to deliver and follow your heart.
